It is with great sadness that Alex Shlahkter passed away yesterday evening.
As many of you know, I have been working with Alex for some 10 years now, importing his Tank parts.
I first met Alex in August 2000 in Volgograd, he was the perfect host, I was made very welcome by him and his delightful family. It was a very interesting trip, and helped to cement our successful business relationship. We all became good friends, his family and mine, culminating with us visiting each other several times over the next few years. As Alex’s business started to grow, we became more distant but there was always a great mutual respect. I especially thought that as a man, Alex was honourable, decent and reliable. We had our differences in business, many times, he could be Very stubborn, but then again, so am I, but the respect never waned.
I am deeply upset by this terrible news, Alex was only 48, looked after himself, rarely drank, did not smoke, his health was very important to him. He was a great Father, and devoted Husband, my thoughts go out to Olga, his wife, and there two daughters.
Please bare with me with this sad situation, rest be assured that business will return as normal, but there are more important things to deal with right now.
